History of the organization
Northwest Family Services, Inc. was established as a Youth and Family Services program in Alva, Oklahoma, in 1976 under the
sponsorship of a citizen's group interested in meeting the needs of children and families in Northwest Oklahoma. Since its
inception NFS has continued to grow and expand its services and is now recognized as a member of the Oklahoma Association of
Youth Services and as a CARF Accredited provider of counseling services.
It is the belief and philosophy of NFS that by concentrating the agency's objectives toward an enhancement of behaviors that
fall within the bounds of social appropriateness, and by increasing interpersonal and self-awareness, the both the present and future
lives of children and families seeking help will be enabled and enriched. Therefore, the agency's programs are designed to
address the issues of juvenile delinquency, drug and alcohol prevention/education, family discord, parenting, limited
knowledge base as well as other concerns that are identified and/or brought to the attention of NFS.
